DEALER LOG SPLITTER
To
minimize repairs and increase rental revenues for your Maxim Log Splitter
follow these simple guidelines
- Encourage the
operator to tow the Log Splitter under 45 mph. Unless your Log splitter
is equipped with the suspension package, the Splitter has no suspension.
High speeds over rough pavement and potholes will cause the unit to
bounce.Bouncing may cause fluid reservoir to crack where it connects
to the wheels. Check the condition of the fluid reservoir after
each rental.
- Encourage the
operator to unhitch the Log Splitter and maneuver the unit into the
final position. The log splitter has a low profile and cannot be seen
from some rearview mirrors. Since the driver can not see the log splitter
he may not realize that it is jack-knifing. Jack-knifing can result
in the bending of the log splitter tongue. Check
the tongue for damage after each rental.
- Install a plastic
cable tie to prevent hydraulic hose from coming into contact with the
engine. The hydraulic hoses are long enough that the log splitter can
be operated in the vertical position. When the unit is lowered into
the horizontal position one of the hoses may flex in a manner that brings
it close to the engine. Check
and replace cable ties as part of the normal maintenance.
- Check
and fill the hydraulic fluid reservoir after each rental. Any
tractor grade fluid will suffice. The log splitter is shipped with enough
fluid to prevent any pump failure should the owner forget to add fluid,
but not enough to operate the unit effectively.
- Inform the renter
that the Log Splitter will operate more effectively once the engine
and hydraulic fluid have had time to warm.
- Repack wheel bearings
once a year.

DEALER TILLER TIPS
To
minimize repairs and increase rental revenues for your Maxim Heavy Duty
follow these simple guidelines:
- Mount
the tines first when assembling unit. Mount the handles and cross braces
next (Cross brace goes between handles). Be sure to add cable guides.
For easier assembly, do not tighten fasteners until you finish placing
all parts. Then, tighten all nuts and fasteners.
- Front
handle protects engine, as well as, provides a grip when loading and
unloading.
- When
loading tiller into pickup or SUV - rotate transport wheels back 2 or
3 positions to lower profile and provide lower center of gravity.
- Check
tiller for loose bolts and screws after each rental. Be certain
to check the bolt that goes through the center of the gear case and
frame. This bolt holds the center cluster sprocket in place inside the
gear case. It must be secure.
- Check
condition of belt after each rental. Replace as needed. Alter
belt tension by adjusting Idler cable chain at hand clutch and by moving
engine backward or forward.
- Check
transmission fluid weekly during rental season by removing check plug
located just above tines. If no fluid eases out - add 00 Gear
Lube into fill plug located toward top of gear case until fluid eases
out of check plug. Make sure both plugs are secure when finished.
- Service
engine according to engine owner's manual.
- Clean
dirt, roots, string and other foreign objects from tines after each
rental.
