TIP OF THE MONTH
Increase Rental Value of Your Front Tine Tiller with Attachments

Rental of front tine tillers does not have to stop after the ground has been broken and tilled at the beginning of gardening season. With attachments and some customer education, front tine tillers can continue rentals through fall (winter in the more temperate climates). The Rental Tiller is shipped with heavy duty (1/4" thick), bolted slasher tines. Other tines and attachments are available that will help you increase rental revenues. Finger tines, a middle buster plow attachment, pick tines, and aerator tines are easy to change and use.

The heavy-duty, bolted slasher tines are the sturdiest, most versatile, and easiest to repair. They can break new ground, till existing beds, improve the soil, and dig holes for planting shrubs. Slashers work efficiently in a wide range of soil types and can be used to improve the soil for the garden and landscaping applications. Till the soil to the desired depth, then add soil enhancers like peat, sand, fertilizer or manure. Till again as deep as possible and your beds are ready for even the most difficult to please plants. Digging holes and loosening soil for shrub planting is easy with slasher tines. Just tilt the tiller forward and hold in place. The tines will ready the soil and throw much of the dirt out of the hole (The smaller rental tiller will do an even better job since the tines move faster). Move the tiller around the hole to loosen soil, backfill with sand or peat and mix with tiller for optimum root health.

MAXIM FINGER TINES WITH PLOW

Finger tines are used for soft soil or to pull the plow attachment. Use the finger tines to break clods during lawn rejuvenation after a tractor has already broken the ground. Used with the finger tines, a middle buster plow can be attached to the hitch to convert the tiller into a plow that will row a garden, dig potatoes, or create a shallow trench.

Pick tines are used on extra hard ground. Till effectively even when the ground has been packed, dried (during the summer months), or has a high clay content. Pick tines are also effective in commercial nursery businesses for specific soil preparation when clods are desired for water seepage.

Aerator tines extend the rental season even further. Use late in winter or early spring when the snow is melting or rains have started to recondition lawn for better water seepage to the roots or to add fertilizer.

MAXIM AERATOR TINES
For even more versatility the outside section of the tines may be removed to create a more narrow foot print. Tillers are not just for the vegetable garden. Market your tillers for lawn care, vegetable gardening, and landscaping to extend the rental season. Tough rental tillers like the Maxim RMT55H can handle a four-season market.
